"True, but if there is another, I'd like to see it," he said before bringing her hand up to his face and kissing across her knuckles. He took another drink of his water and looked out over the crowds of people. This would be his only solace for the next two weeks. He hoped Jaina would agree to meet him for mealtimes. He might go crazy otherwise.

Jaina just cocked an eyebrow at him. "Using your manly wiles to get what you want," she chuckled, shaking her head. "Gideon Smith, I am surprised at you.
"How about this, as an incentive? When we get through the next few weeks, I will show you some of the ones I know about?" Most of the ones that weren't exactly useful to most people, something easily deduced by footprints and smears in the accumulated dust and dirt on the floors. There were a few that might actually help the two of them if it was almost curfew. "But no showing them to anyone else, kay? Your other prefect buddies are going to have to figure it out on their own."

That was as good as he was going to get from her, then he'd have no choice but to agree. He nodded his head, reaching for his water once more to block the set of his lips, which was displeasure. He was fixing a lot of the access points to the dungeons as part of his penance, and it wouldn't do for Jaina to go walking through the dungeons during a meeting or even just finding their meeting place with the altar of candles and chalices.
"Are you ready to go?" he asked, wanting to get a good spot in the clearing where they could lay back and watch the stars in relative darkness.

"Yup," she said, never noticing the tenseness on his face as she had turned away to grab the box of mints from her jeans pocket. It wasn't a matter of freshening her breath but that wasn't a bad reason that she could use for now if he asked. "A wise choice eating in. I don't think I could have gotten this all together for a picnic. And it probably wouldn't have tasted as good cold," she added, extracting herself from the table and heading for the door, her hand waiting for his to take it since that seemed to be one of his things. It was fine with her. She loved his hands...and one day, Jaina thought, she might actually tell him the real reason as to why.

He pushed his plate away and it disappeared as always. He took one last drink of his water before standing and taking her hand in his. He led the way out of the dining hall, headed for the outside. He should have better prepared, he thought as a wall of cold air hit him, forcing him to walk arm to arm with Jaina, wondering if she was used to temperatures like this. Maybe he'd ask her one day, but the companionable silence was kind of a nice reprieve from what he had been going through since last night.

The cold wasn't so bad for her...not really. She had come prepared with a new, clean shirt over an insulated blue hoody made for days like this.
No, Jaina could have managed if it wasn't for the slight, brisk breeze that cooled things off a good deal more than it should have. And from the way Gideon seemed to cuddle in close to her, she wondered if maybe he hadn't considered that factor of stargazing. Well, fortunately for her boyfriend, she was always prepared for more scenarios. This afternoon would go to show if she had done enough because in between cleaning and resetting, Jaina had been trying to figure out contingency plans for rain or (quite possible) snow. There was mention of it coming soon and, what was more, she could feel it in her bones. Unfortunately, that wasn't the most accurate at forecasting weather. It could mean this weekend or next but it was definitely on its way.
Their steps were slower than usual, it seemed. But the silence between them wasn't uncomfortable. It was as though they were just trying to stock up on each other's presence as much as possible, much like a bear preparing for a long winter sleep. Words could wait.
