"I think if you wanted to make it as a singer, you would, you're that good," he said genuinely believing that. He was a little bit thrown off by her next question but he looked down at his feet for a moment, before turning back to look at her. "Well it was doggy style because it's quick and easy, but now I'm not so sure, because I imagine it would be hard to kiss you in that position. I liked kissing you while we had sex, and I've never done that before. And being able to watch your face as you came, I definitely want to see that again sometime."
His answers might have been crude, but they were honest. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, as he looked at her, wondering what she was thinking of.

"Thanks," Eris said, not sure how else to respond. She hadn't been fishing for compliments. With the talent, confidence, and connections, she knew she'd make it. The question wasn't if, it was when. Would she go to college to further her education or just right into a career? There were times she wish she could have gone to a specialized music school instead of a magical school, but she knew that she'd never have learned to control her magical abilities without Ilvermorny. And she never would have met Abel.
"That's pretty much what I thought you'd say," she chuckled, leaning her head over on his shoulder. "I liked the kissing, too. It never felt.... right, before. I always avoided it." His crudeness didn't bother her. They were adults and should be able to have adult conversations without getting embarrassed or tiptoeing around words. She continued moving her thumb slowly back and forth, thinking again.
"Both of your parents and all your brothers are magical, aren't they? What's that like? I've always wondered what it's like growing up with magic, instead of being hurtled into it as a confused eleven-year-old," she chuckled softly. "Do you not use any no-maj stuff? Like, no phones or TVs or computers? Is it all floo network and owls and wizard radio?"

"Yeah me too," he said as she leaned her head against his shoulder. When she asked about his family, he nodded, before realizing that was dumb, because she couldn't see him nod.
"Yeah, we're all magical," he said. "Accidental magic gets explained a lot easier, in fact, it's expected by age five or so, to make sure you aren't a squib. Magic gets used for almost everything, even the mundane tasks. It makes quick work of things, but little pride goes into anything," he said with a sigh. "We have the floo network, and I have a great horned owl named Harley, and the wizard radio."
"But with my Mom's business, she has been forced to learn to adapt to no-maj things like the computer and telephones," he said. "She's got a few varieties of wines for no-maj's now that are proving quite popular. I think it's a very smart move to diversify her brand."

"Seems like it would get taken for granted, being able to do things with the swish of a wand," Eris said, freeing her hand and turning his palm up. She traced over the lines there with a finger. "I've gotten used to it, being here most of the year, but it was a rough transition. I grew up using technology in similar ways, making life simpler but also creating this dependency on it. And I had absolutely no explanation for the weird things that happened around me until I turned eleven and got my letter. There was even another witch in the pageant circuit with me and I didn't know until I came here and she was here, too. She never suspected me, either, because my parents are no-maj. It was nice to know at least one person here, though. It helped."
No other questions came to mind at the moment, so she might as well do a bit of Divination studying and maybe learn something about him in the process. She examined his left hand closely, holding in with both hands and running her right finger over the uppermost horizontal line. "Well, this isn't telling me anything I don't already know, assuming you're right handed," she chuckled. "Picky about who you give your heart to, lots of lovers but nothing serious."

Abel didn't need Divination to know that the other girl had been Roxy. The two of them had been stuck at the hip from the beginning. When he first started school here he noticed them, always together, whispering through the hallways. Building up a friendship that would lead them to be the Queens of Gossip in the school. It was a shame really.
He let her study his hand, watching it for a moment before watching her face as she studied the lines of his hand. Not wanting to be a creeper he looked back down at his hand now resting in both of hers. "Left actually," he said. "Other than my sperm donor, I'm the only lefty in the family," he said. "Does that matter?" he asked, curious at what she would see from his other hand.
He had never put much stock in Divination, but it was fascinating to watch her trace the lines of his hand and read his life. Well, so far it was all stuff she already knew anyway, so it wasn't some shocking revelation.

"Ah. Actually, yes, it makes a difference. Your dominant hand shows change and growth. Your other hand shows inherited traits," Eris took another look at his heart line, now knowing he was a southpaw. Then she took his right hand and looked at them side-by-side. "See, this one on your right hand is wavier than the left, meaning you'll be less of a player as you go along."
She shifted her attention to the center line. "Your memory and concentration are great. You're focused but selfish with your successes, and," her eyes moved to his left hand. "Not much change, but you're definitely successful in your endeavors."

He looked at the lines of his hands as she pointed to each of them and explained what they meant. If dating her meant he was becoming less of a player then that was true. His memory and concentration were refined from years of training on the piano and sports. His nose flared slightly as she said he was selfish of his successes, but when he thought about it, she was probably right. He often felt like he was carrying people with him to the top of the mountain, whether it be on the field or in potions.
To learn his endeavors would be successful was a surprise, considering his main endeavor was to prove to his mother that he was worthy of learning her business and eventually running it when he was ready. He wondered if Eris would still be around then or jet setting around the world singing to adoring fans.
"I've never had someone read my palms before," he said quietly, still processing her words. "What do your's say?" he asked, curious now if she would or could read her own, as he didn't know the rules of Divination.

Eris was glad he didn't ask her to continue because that was as far as they'd gotten with palm reading, so far. There was much more to it than she thought there would be. She had probably missed some things about his heart and head lines, or maybe misread them a bit. "In class, we have to read each other's palms, but I think I can read my own," she said, turning her palms up. "I'm right-handed, so I start with my left. See, this line, the heart line, starts under my middle finger, so it means I'm selfish in love. It's wavy and runs parallel to the head line, which means multiple partners, and I've got a good handle on my emotions."
Switching hands, she pointed out that the start of that heart line is further down on her palm. "This means I'll learn to fall in love more easily, less waves means fewer partners, and it's still parallel to the head line, so I'll continue to have control of my emotions."
Her eyes remained on her hands as she waited for some sort of response from him. She'd heard her classmate's reading, but she hadn't put much stock in any of it. Now that she was saying it, herself, in front of Abel, she felt exposed. This was a strange feeling, especially since she still didn't believe strongly in divination.

He shifted so he could get a better look at her hands, causing their shoulders to brush against each other. Her's sounded spot on as well, and they both had fewer partners on their hands, which had to mean something right? That she'd learn to fall in love more easily, Abel wasn't sure how he felt about that word.
"How could one be selfish in love if they have control of their emotions? Isn't selfishness somewhat an emotion?" he asked, genuinely interested in her answer. Unless it meant she got territorial when in love, which he could see in her. Hell, she was still somewhat territorial over Roxy, and she had been her best friend. Abel didn't know that the feelings ran deeper than that though. If he did, he'd likely be much more guarded about his own feelings around Eris.

"It's more of a trait than an emotion. It means I take more than I give," Eris said simply. She couldn't say for sure if that was true, seeing things only from her own perspective. As far as she could tell, she wasn't selfish, but selfish people rarely knew they were being selfish. "Do you think I take more than I give in our relationship?"
In bed, maybe. Since the 'realness' of their relationship was still fairly new, maybe they hadn't reached a point where he'd be able to say one way or the other. "My head line shows I'm organized, practical, and have great attention to detail. These crosses through it on my right hand show that I'll have to make some important decisions that will greatly affect my fate," Eris explained. "That's pretty much all I can read, so far. We haven't learned how to read the other lines, yet. But I do know this one is the fame line. I wonder what it means when it looks kind of like an arrow pointing at my ring finger."

"Gotcha," he said when she explained it. "I don't think so, but we're still new so only time will tell." He continued looking at her hands as she listed off other things about herself before she stopped and explained that's as far as they had gotten in class. "I can see you being organized and such."
He looked at their hands next to each other, his long 'piano' fingers which served him well on the quodpot field and her slightly more petite hands that seemed to fit his so easily. "I wonder what these 'revelations' mean for us," he said. According to their hands, they were both selfish people, just in different areas. He briefly wondered what important decisions she would have to make to affect her fate. When she pointed to her fame line, "I'd like to know when you find out," he said.

"I gotta be organized or everything goes to hell," Eris said, this past week coming to mind. Abel aside, the whole week had been garbage. She wished she could just start it all over. Pressing their palms together and sliding her fingers between his, she shrugged. "Maybe nothing. Maybe everything."
Eris nodded, looking over at him. "I think it's actually called the sun line, but I'm not sure. I just know it supposedly determines your level of fame," she said then smirked. "Or infamy, I guess."

He looked back down at their combined hands and couldn't help the smile on his face. He looked over at her, smile still on his face, "Well whatever it's called, I'm sure it means something good for you," he said, giving her hand a light squeeze. "Do you like taking Divination? I thought it was all a bunch of hocus-pocus bullshit, which is why I took something else. Do you think there is anything to it?" he asked, curious about her answers.

"Yes and no," she answered. "Some people actually have the gift. When they divine something, there's probably something to it. I do not have the gift, I don't think, so take whatever I divine with a grain of salt. I honestly took the class because it seemed like an easy A. Look at some tea leaves, throw some rocks, make up some bullshit. Easy. But it really isn't. There's a lot to it. I would have changed to a different class, but I didn't want to change directions mid-stream."
Plus, she'd chosen it because that was the one elective she and Roxy could agree upon. Now that she was a senior, switching would be completely pointless.

"Yeah, that makes sense," he said about the whole changing streams thing. "I took magical sports, because, duh it's me and free study, not that I actually use that much for studying," he said. "I check in at the counter and then I go roaming the halls looking for something fun to do."
"Most people are surprised that I didn't take something like dueling and defense, but I figure I know enough spells from Defense Against the Dark Arts that I should be able to hold my own should someone attack me, and if all else fails I have my fists," he said.
