Shae was surprised when her face lit up so brightly. Obviously, they had at least one person in common then. While he was not as familiar with Aiko, they had spoken a few times - once in person, at last year's chess tournament. Kagami's description was fairly accurate, making it easier to sort through his memory of the occasion, as well as the few letters she had sent him. Kaga-kun...it sounded familiar but where? When?
"Actually, she may have," he finally assented, almost locating the conversation. "When we met, she spoke so quickly but we were discussing gaming and the merits of chess versus the other varieties of games. A few of us were debating about why, at our school, chess was considered its own club instead of considered tabletop gaming and she mentioned that..." Shae searched his thoughts, his brows down low as he searched for the right words. "Kaga-kan...now that you say it, there was something about card games." He frowned.
"I am sorry, Kagami. I can not remember it with absolute certainty. As I said, she spoke very quickly, which she seemed to do anytime she was excited," he chuckled.

Her grin broadened, a dash of pink popping up over her nose. "Ha. Yes, she is even hard to understand in Nihongo when she gets excited. Kaga-kun is a name I go by," she clarified, pausing to think. Kagami couldn't quite find the word that she was searching for - 'nickname'. Though, it was more of a stage name than a nickname. "An... alias?"
It didn't really matter. Alias was close enough. They all had the same basic meaning. Did he know what danso was? Probably not. "We played card games together, sometimes, but she preferred chess," Kagami shrugged one shoulder. "If she knew my deck, she easily won. But if she didn't, she could not predict my hand. With chess, everything is seen."

Alias was more a word used by spies and criminals. He considered assuring her that her secret was safe with him, but then it might require more explanation and end up confusing them more in the long run. So instead, Shae just nodded. "I can see where that would frustrate her a bit. Hard to pick the pattern if you can't see it all as is. That is why I prefer Chess - I prefer puzzles of all kinds, actually. But Chess is the challenge of knowing all the rules, all the plays, preparing the strategy only to have someone change everything half-way through," he explained.
As a pair of students walked by the table, he could have sworn that he heard the one word that had him here talking to Kagami. While he wanted to speak with Kagami further, Shae was old enough to know that he had responsibilities that could only be put off for so long.
"I have greatly enjoyed our talk and I hope that we can continue it soon. However, if I am going to get my homework done for tomorrow..." Shae admitted regretfully, slowly standing up.
