“There are so many different people out there. If she is happy with the life she living then that is great. A family is something that is important in life, but some families don’t understand everything about how others feel. This woman did what she thought was best and now has a new and better family. Money does not show how famous you are. The amount of love that you have does. There are lots of famous people out there that are alone.” Chris knew they would not be making any more school work done.
Christopher moved to grab the cookie again not wanting to give her any ideas about who this story was about. “She is the only witch in her family yes.” He knew that it was sort of the truth because he was actually a wizard. “The woman did have a family and tries her best to help but just not able to find anything to help.” He knew his mother was using all her magic to make sure they had a house over their head. The death of his sister made everything change.
“The teachers here are nice but do they work on seeing how their students are once they leave here. It did not look as if any of them check up on the students after this. There are teachers in the no-maj world that do it. They add their students on social media.” He knew because he saw it when his sister died how others care even teacher missed her.

Jaina agreed. "It is more difficult for the teachers here to keep up with their students. However, they have hundreds - in not over a thousand whereas a regular No-Maj teacher has a good deal less. And since they are here to supervise us 24/7 - almost ten months out of the year, it's hard to begrudge them those few weeks that they have to be themselves.
"However, that should not stop a student from going to a teacher if they need help...in any part of their life," she said, trying not to scrutinize him very closely. She had the feeling that just as her story had been about her own mother, so his story was about his. "So what about the father? Is she all alone to care for her family or has she a No-Maj significant other to aid her in this difficult time?"

Christopher rolled his eyes on how she said that it was okay for the teacher to begrudge themselves. “I was more talking about them keeping up with students after graduate. I guess your right that there are a lot. It why so many of them fall through the cracks. It not like they do class reunions like public schools do either.”
“She has a no-maj husband but not completely sure what he does to help.” He was not going to let it known thst he was the student. Jiana was nice right now that for sure. It could change when knew the turth and not for the better. “The student could be fine. I mean they made it into this special school. Plus as said before the teacher here to supervise us. They most likely have plenty of others to worry about. Why worry about one being good when have others out there being trouble makers.”
Plus sure most of the teacher would know he scholarship student by now. His whole entrance application was lie in some parts. Like in the address spot if looked it be to abandoned building.

"Sometimes, students can slip through the cracks because of our greater numbers," Jaina agreed. She nearly had. However, there was no reason for Christopher to know that. All she had to do was what hundreds of students before her had done and likely would do until Ilvermorny finally burned to the ground.
"But there are more people here than just teachers," she reminded him gently. "Not everyone can get along all the time but all of us here are united in one way or another. We are a family; your housemates, your roommates, the friends you make - sometimes, they come to mean more to you than those you have left behind. Sometimes it might feel like it but the truth is, you are never really alone. Not here." She gave him a sad smile.
"It's difficult to make that first leap of faith, to trust someone with who you are. It took me almost six years if you will believe it. And now that I look back on it, I regret a great deal of those six years. All the friendships I could have made, all the happy moments I could have had but passed on because I didn't think anyone would like the real me." Jaina grabbed a cookie, handing another one over to him. She hated to splurge alone. "But eventually, someone took a chance - someone pushed their way in and I am so much happier now because they have made my life so much better. It was the last person I ever thought would do it," she confessed.
"So I'm telling you, as someone who knows, don't shut everyone out - thinking you already know what they think. People can often surprise you."

"The cracks sometimes seem better than being a front runner.” He knew back home it worked well when slips through. Christopher got good at stealing food and things if not realize he is there. Plus it how ended up with love of music.
“Thank you again for the cookie it really yummy.” He worked on eating it again. If Jaina ever turned her back, Christopher put the other half in his bag and ship it to mother. They did not get sweets often and she loves it. “The whole house thing and them caring know your wrong. They would rather avoid me like the plague. I don’t need friends either.”
He knew she judges him like the others when finding out the truth. Maybe if she did it be easier for everyone. His parents already told him not to get into any fights. This was the last school that would take him in. “My sister would have loved these cookies too. Her favorite though was Oreos. We should get back to studying. I sure you want to see your boyfriend and friends before curfew over.”

"Not tonight. I told them that I was helping you," she informed them. "Alright then, back to work it is. Without your wand." Jaina would ignore his attempts to correct him for now. Pushing the matter further would only make things harder. It took time and patience and she was prepared for both.
"Now, the pronunciation is - watch my mouth," Jaina said. "Win-GAR-dium le-vi-OH-sa. You want to gently emphasize 'gar' and 'oh'. Very common mistake - mispronunciation. Since it isn't in English, that makes things a little more difficult. But it can be learned." She said it twice more for him, then gestured for him to try it.
It took a little time, a little correcting and plenty of patience but eventually, he finally got it down pat. Jaina pulled another cookie out of the container and set it on top of the lid. "Why don't you try the spell now," she requesting. While they had not gone over the most basic part - the core of the spell, maybe he could manage it on his own. If he didn't, however, then they could get there. She just needed to see where he was at; if he could combine the movement and the words appropriately.

Christopher nods happily that she cleared all her plans for the night to be with him. “Maybe next time your boyfriend and his friends can come. I mean you are nice. Could you be considered a friend?” He knew it might be nice to write to his mom about using friend next time.
The first year wondered if could trust her with the fact that his life been different after sister died. She does not need to know they were living in a tent that had charm wearing off. After getting the words down pack Jaina felt that he was ready to try and live the cookie. Christopher would love to admit that he actually felt that could do it also.
This was where he was now holding his wand looking at the cookie. He was remembering what she taught him. Clear your mind focus only on the cookie and nothing else. He worked on focusing on the cooking and doing the movement properly for a few tries.
“wingardium leviosa, ” Chris watched as the cookie worked on rising about two inches off of the lid. He has been so excited about what happened that lost concentration. The cookie dropped back down. “I did it Jaina. The cookie actually floated till got excited and mind was not on it no more. You actually help me understand it.”

"I would love to be your friend. Right now, they are busy with their own studies but I'm certain when things calm down, they will be happy to meet you," she assured. When he finally turned his focus on the cookie, she smiled watching him without trying to look too eager which might make him more nervous.
When it finally raised in the air a few inches...Jaina stared at it in wonder, then to the boy who looked so startled and happy. Unfortunately, he lost focus but it was an amazing start. "You did it!" She cheered, her smile bright in delight. "I saw it - rose right off the lid! I knew you could do it!
"Try again - I'll bet you can get it higher this time," Jaina said enthusiastically.

Christopher smiled excited and happy about everything that was going on. “I am happy that you want to be my friend. Plus that there might be other students on there they would maybe be my friends later.” He thought about what she said about going to a teacher for help. “Which teacher would be best to talk to if a student needs help? I might be able to talk to the student about getting help as you said. The teacher needs to be one that is trustworthy with secrets.”
He clapped before moving over and working on hugging Jaina quickly. “Thank you for sharing your cookies with me also.” He wanted to make sure to get the cookie up higher this time. “I will go higher for sure. How best time to study potions when not able to actually make it outside of class.”
Christopher worked on looking at the cookie and concentration on it again. “wingardium leviosa,” He worked on thinking about the cookie. It worked on floating up about two feet. He even worked on keeping it floating in the spot. He was thinking slowly not sure on what to do now before putting it down. “How do I make it do more than up and down?

Jaina watched as he did it again, this time much more quickly and effectively. "Move the tip of your wand, slowly, in the direction you wish it to go. Like so," she pulled out her own wand, performed the spell - forcing herself to speak it aloud - and raised another cookie out of the box. Then, with a slight movement, a flash of thought, the treat moved toward Christopher and settled down in front of his mouth where it hung, waiting for him to take it out of the air.
"That takes lots of practice, of course," she reminded him. "I've had five more years than you have. Magic takes focus, persistence, and a lot of patience. It will come, with time, if you can truly dedicate yourself. And maybe you won't master every single subject; you might have talent in only a few because of your interest there. But even that is more than you started with."
Jaina finished off the cookie she had been eating while they had been talking before, running through his questions and trying to find a reasonable answer that wouldn't be affected by her own biases.
"There are a good many students here who will gladly help you with homework problems. I am good at Charms and quite talented when it comes to Transfiguration. There is a girl in my house I can introduce you to; she is one of the few people I know who might be able to help you with Herbology. Potions - you might as well go straight to Professor McDanna. She is amazing when it comes to helping students outside of class hours and spends a good majority of her time in the potions lab so she's not hard to find.
"I believe, if I was looking for someone to talk to, to confide in - it would have to be her or Professor MacDuff. I know you might not believe me but they have both taught here for a very long time and they both really like children. If you're lucky, Professor MacDuff will make you tea and, sometimes, cookies while you talk. And they have kept a fair share of secrets over the years; of that, I am quite certain." No one could teach at a school like this for as long as they had and not learn the value of secrecy. Jaina just hoped that he would actually take her advice, to reach out to someone if he really needed help.

Christopher laughed as she put the cookie right next to his mouth. He finally opened it taking it into his mouth loving the cookies. The boy was actually happy that did not have dinner or would have gotten full after just one cookie. “Wow move the tip slowly in direction. Plus keep your mind on it because if loose concentration the item will drop. Since know what I am doing will make sure to practice. Right now I have lots of free time so can do that with different items.”
He listens to her talking about how this was going to have patience. Christopher did not really have that at all. He would now focus on the subject that was decent at. “So say I am trying to lift a book do I do the same thing. How do take into account that it has more weight than the cookie.”
“Thanks again Jaina, You are the best friend I could ask for. My grades are not the best even actually near failing. Since you are giving me this help might bring them up to passing. Then I will work on sending a note to Professor McDanna. If she that amazing then sure that she will help me with my studies.” He had not wanted to tell his new friend the truth about the real reason why failing potions class. When you had problems with numbers it did not work to have to be so precise on everything when making a potion.
“I will work on telling my friend about how can go to those professors. The friend does need help though just not sure how to ask for it.” Christopher was not going to let Jaina know that it was him that was having the problems. She would just be like the others at his public school and judge him. They then got into fights and he ended up getting kicked out. This was a good school and had clothes that fit. He did not want to get kicked out and go back to public school. The truth he was not sure if another school would take him. That meant Christopher would have to do something else for work. “Not sure if the friend likes tea. I know that the students like cookies though and be happy for someone keeping the secret. People seem to judge others without knowing the truth. Some even when know the truth treat people differently.”

"A good question," Jaina complemented him. "The answer is that weight does not matter anywhere other than in your mind. It's difficult but you are going to have to retrain your thoughts. With magic, most things are possible if you are determined enough." To demonstrate, she pointed her wand at the nearby sofa with two 8th graders sitting on it. Speaking the charm clearly, Jaina picked it up in the air just as easily as she had the little cookie. The girls squealed until they realized what was going on and then laughed, asking to actually be taken for a ride on the couch. Jaina just shook her head and set it back down. Had she not been doing a demonstration for Christopher, she might have considered it.
However, with younger kids watching, she should probably be trying to set a good example. "You see?" She asked. "It's all about believing in yourself. I'm certain we will get you all caught up. Just be honest with yourself and the people around you. And try not to judge them, thinking that they are already judging you. I swear, we're not. Frankly, we're all too busy judging ourselves to be looking at anyone else."
Jaina put the lid back on the container of cookies. "Here, I think you have earned the rest."

Christopher watched as she showed him the answer to how it did not really matter what the size of the thing was just the fact that your mind had to keep concentrated on it. He smiled as the students asked to ask to be taken for a ride. He thought it would have been fun to ride around on it too. “Thank you for all the help that you have given me. I know the believing in one's self will be hard. I will try and work on making some friends with the others in my house like you said. Maybe it was all a miss understanding the first time.”
He eagerly took the wonderful container of cookies from her. “Thank you, this might be a nice thing to share with others to work on making friends.” Christopher knew most of them he would make sure to hide though. They were that good and not sure when he gets something as good again.
