"Chocolate mousse," he said immediately. "Especially if it's on a cake or something. I'll eat the frosting first in those cases. It drives my mom nuts," he said. He turned his head to look at her, a smile on his face as he felt like they were getting somewhere without sex.
"What about you? What does Jaina like for dessert?" he asked, pressing a soft kiss against her forehead. He shifted his legs away from the fire, finding that they were getting a little too toasty.

"Chocolate mousse, huh?" Jaina remarked, filing that into the growing list of the many things to remember about him. "That's at least something. A lot of the guys I know can't stand chocolate. Of course, that means I get their desserts when it comes up but it would be nice to share that sort of thing every once in a while. That is, if you can, indeed, share." She giggled.
"I don't honestly think I could choose. There are just way too many. As long as it's not rhubarb and doesn't have peanut butter in it, I'm game." Okay, build on that. "You mentioned popcorn. Anything else you don't like to eat?"

"I'm not a fan of most vegetables, I only like corn, green beans, and broccoli," he said. "I don't like taffy either. It gets stuck in my teeth. But I love just about anything with peanut butter. So why do you dislike peanut butter so much?" he asked, shifting his head on the pillow, trying to find a comfortable spot. His legs were folded in an 'Indian' sitting position, keeping them away from the heat for the moment.

"What about potatoes?" She asked instantly. They were technically a vegetable. Feeling him shift around, she disentangled herself from his arm to sit up. "Time to move?" Not unimaginable. It hadn't taken long to warm the room and when they were already sitting so close to the fireplace. Jaina had been perfectly comfortable but then she hadn't been on the warmer side; he had. Their shared body heat probably wasn't helping things any.
Unfortunately, trying to find somewhere more comfortable would only eat into their already valuable time. In fact, they had to be getting near the end of it. Had he set his alarm? Jaina didn't want to look around for a clock and couldn't see either of their watches at this angle. Besides, that might seem like she wanted to leave when it wasn't remotely true.

"I like potatoes, especially baked potatoes with butter, cheese and sour cream on them," he said wistfully. "No, just shifting to get comfortable. I feel like the fireplace melted the soles of my shoes."
He sat up, pulling his legs in and offered her the pillow or she could put her head in his lap, he had no problems either way. "Don't worry I set an alarm on my watch for when we should get going," he said.

Jaina nodded. Mr. Responsible to save the day again. She hadn't even considered it and now that he had reassured her, Jaina didn't want to look at the clock; didn't want to know if they had only a few minutes or a dozen. "Well, if you don't mind, you make a damn good pillow," she grinned, lying back down with her head in his lap, unable to keep from laughing as she clarified, "firm yet still fluffy in all the right places." She folded her hands, resting them on her stomach.

Gideon looked down at her with a raised brow, "Are you saying I have fat thighs? Because I seem to remember winning that race," he reminded her. He played with her hair as she lay there with her head in his lap. He felt like they had made a ton of progress, but it was always good to make more. "What is something you will refuse to eat, no matter how much someone begs?"

"I am saying nothing of the sort," she said. One hand slid free, moving to tug a little on his hoodie. "This is fluffy though." As for the rest...yeah, that was definitely not a conversation either of them needed to get into any further. She had looked for imperfections on his body - had had the opportunity more than once and found none. He was perfectly toned from his neck to his...
Definitely avoiding THAT thought or she was going to completely ruin this tranquil moment.
"Aside from those two things, onions and ham. And beans." She made a face. "Green beans are good but they have to be freshly cooked or frozen. After a lifetime of church picnics and potlucks, you learn quickly to adapt to different foods or else starve. Especially since the adults always get to go through the line first before the kids."

"You didn't answer about the peanut butter," he pointed out. It was one of his favorite things in the world. He'd kill for a PB&J right now actually. It was like food for his soul.
"I can understand onions, I'm not a fan of them either, but ham and beans aren't so bad," he said, as he continued to play with her hair. It was so long and a pretty shade too.

"I thought that would make you happy. Had my siblings over the moon when holidays came around, especially Halloween. I always made a killing, selling off my Snickers and Reese's and Butterfingers." Jaina smiled. "I don't know why I don't like it. When I was little, 6 or 7 maybe, I got sick. When I finally recovered a week later, I couldn't stand the taste or smell of peanuts, peanut butter, or ham. I don't remember much of what happened during that time so maybe they tried to feed me some while I was sick or the potion had weird side-effects but it is what it is." She shrugged.
"Beans are more of a texture thing. It took us a while but Jack and I finally figured out that that was the reason. That's why fresh or frozen green beans are okay; they don't have quite the same..." Jaina tried to find the right word but finally gave up, unable to fully describe it to someone who didn't share the aversion.

"That's so sad," he said, as all of his favorite candies were peanut butter based. "I can understand a texture thing. It's one of the many reasons I don't like most vegetables."
"Sometimes I'll eat peas, but they have to be in a can, because frozen peas taste disgusting," he said, making a face that really made his disgust clear.

"Canned peas are actually one of the very few canned vegetables I will voluntarily eat," she said, a bit surprised. "Difference between City Mouse and Country Mouse, I suppose. Canned versus fresh. Until Pops and I came east for the first time and he took me to the supermarket to stock up on food, I had never realized how many foods people actually ate out of metal cans.
"But the peanut butter thing works for you. Now you don't have to worry about me filching some of your candy or sandwich. It's all yours. And if I get anything like that, I will pass on the loot I can score from the others and give it directly to you so bonus," Jaina pointed out. "Just gotta look at it the right way."

"More for me I guess," he said. "What if I had just eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, would you still kiss me?" he asked, wondering if her aversion went that deep. She was the first person he knew that didn't like peanut butter. Ah, the joys of Peanut Butter Twix.
"Yeah in most grocery stores the food isn't as fresh as it is at the farmers market, but we can't always make it down there and it's closed during the winter so," he shrugged his shoulders.

"If you haven't had anything other to drink with it to dilute the taste..." Jaina actually considered this. Not something that had ever actually come up in the past. "I would really, really have to like you to kiss you if it's just peanut butter," she finally said. "And the lips are definitely staying closed." He wanted honest truth and that was the best she could give him since it hadn't been an issue as of yet. At least they could get to the important point now, without crossing the line.
"Any tastes or smells you want to put on the list since we're down that particular rabbit hole?"

"None that immediately come to mind," he said as he looked down at her, his hands almost framing her face, as he played with her hair and caressed her cheeks. "What about you? Anything I should avoid?" he asked, wondering how deep this particular rabbit hole went and if they would have enough time to cover a lot of it before they had to go back to school. He'd have to start his patrols and then bed before being Eris' bitch for an entire day.
