Becca said farewell to her friends (and her friend's friend), and headed out of the quad with Gabe. Normally, it was a short walk to the Wampus entrance, but they were taking the long way around. Plus, if they went the same direction as Lucco, they wouldn't have as much privacy. The halls were mostly deserted, so she figured it must be somewhat close to curfew. Not so close that they needed to be in a hurry, considering the occasional student or pair of students passing by on their way to their dorms or wherever. None of them seemed to be in a rush, either, so she figured they had at least half an hour or more. She interlaced her fingers with his, not caring if a teacher or prefect saw.
"How was your day? I think we probably just missed each other at meals or something," she said, purposely avoiding discussion of the previous night. "We were a little out of sync, I guess."

"I've been running late all day, so I ended up missing breakfast and lunch entirely, and I nearly missed dinner," he said. "I've been working on St. Roix's latest homework and its a pain in the ass, just like the man who assigned it."
He gave her hand a squeeze and with a contented sigh, he looked over at Becca and wondered what was on her mind. "How was your day, beautiful?" he asked, not caring who heard as he would shout it from the top of Thunderbird tower if he had to.

"Ugh, I wish I could drop his class altogether," she made a stinkface. "I don't care anything about flowers and plants, anyway. I'm probably barely skating by, but I'd be willing to try to help you with your homework, if you want. Not right now, obviously."
Becca smiled up at him, feeling that familiar little flutter in her belly as he squeezed her hand. "Well, we turned JD in this morning," she said a bit flatly. "Gideon apparently got a babysitter last night, for god knows what reason. I don't want to just assume it was because of Jaina, but it's hard not to. Ugh. We almost had a perfect score. If I had known he'd do that, I would have done it to spend some baby-free time with you. I mean, the whole point of it was so that we learn to take responsibility for our actions, not pass them off onto someone else to do whatever we want."
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a moment. "Sorry. I know he's your pal. Things were just going so well, and that just irked me," Becca sighed, feeling a little bit better now that she'd vented. "It probably doesn't bother him at all. He probably hasn't had a second thought about it. I considered how he'd feel if I did something to mess up our grade, and that's all I really ask for in return. A little consideration. You know?"

"Oh, I was wondering where the bjorn was," he said as they walked leisurely down the hallway, not really heading anywhere in particular. "That doesn't sound like the Gideon I know. Then again, he's changed a lot since he started dating Jaina and his accident, so I really don't know. I guess now he's going to be singing in the choir now. He's changed a lot, and not all for good."
"You can vent to me anytime, Bec, you know that," he said as he gave her hand another gentle squeeze. "It sucks you didn't get a perfect score though because of a stupid reason like having a babysitter. You would have taken the baby back had he needed the night off."

"Oh, yeah. Do you want it back? You could probably fashion it back into a camelbak pretty easily," she offered. "Or you could hang on to it until you need it next year."
Becca shrugged, barely knowing Gideon before, but the way he was acting was exactly how she'd perceived him since about eighth grade, long before the accident or his dating Jaina. Stuck on himself and unconcerned about others' feelings or how his actions affected people. She had been starting to change her mind about him until that morning. "Have you even hung out with him since he came back?" she asked, quirking a brow. She couldn't recall him having spent any time with Gideon.
"That's what I said! I would have gladly swapped nights with him if he wanted Thursday night off, he could have given me Wednesday night off," she sighed, shaking her head. But then she beamed up a him. "Thanks for letting me vent. Just another way you show me you love me."

"Yeah I'll need it back," he said, smiling that he had been helpful. He shook his head, "No, I haven't hung out with him since the accident. The closest thing is helping out the choir and I don't really count that," he said, reaching up with his other hand to brush it back through his mop of hair. He had a feeling that when he went home for Thanksgiving he'd be getting a haircut, as it was currently 'untidy'.
"I agree what he did is pretty sketchy," he said, wondering what happened to his normally responsible friend. Was it because of his girlfriend? The accident? A combination of the two? Gabe didn't know.
"I try to show you every day," he said with a sparkling smile that reached toward his eyes as he looked down at her. He leaned down and kissed her cheek before looking around, his brow furrowing. "Where are we?"

"Well, maybe you should. Maybe he isn't distracted. Maybe he's acting different because he's upset. The way you felt when you thought you might never play guitar again? I bet he feels that way about racing," she suggested, trying to practice what she preaches - considering the feelings of others. "Maybe invite him to game night. Now that his schedule isn't as hectic without racing, maybe he'll have time for it."
When he kissed her cheek, her grin widened. Then it fell. Becca looked around then back over her shoulder. "I.... I have no idea. I don't recognize any of this," she wrinkled her brow. How had they even gotten here? Wherever 'here' was.

"That's a good idea, maybe have a guys night or something," he said as he looked around, turning around in a full circle. "I'll try to invite him to game night too, but he'd likely bring Jaina with him and I know how you feel about her."
"You know, I think this is the abandoned corridor where the unisex bathroom is," he said. "I bet if we keep walking we'll see it. Come on, it will be an adventure," he said with a smile on his face, still holding her hand in case she was nervous at all. But she was a Wampus, she wouldn't be scared of an empty hallway.

"I assumed he would. I figure they're kind of a package deal, like us," she shrugged. "So let him bring her."
Becca wouldn't mind kicking her ass at pacheesi or candyland or whatever other game was on the list. Which made her think about Texas Hold 'Em. Definitely not a game she was good at, though it was mostly luck. The bluffing, she could do. Theater camp had to be good for something, right?
"There's a unisex bathroom?" she asked, surprised. And they hadn't been bathing together this whole time, why? Speaking of why, why did the school have a unisex bathroom? Was it from a bygone era where it wasn't so strange for boys and girls to bathe together? "Onward!" she said enthusiastically. Becca had to see this bathroom for herself before she would believe of its existence.
They passed several rooms in various states of disuse before finding a door simply marked 'BATH'. "Gee, I wonder if this is it?" Becca snorted. It looked like it hadn't been touched for a century or two, except there were some very obviously recent shoe prints in the layer of dust on the floor leading into it.

Gabe noticed the footprints too. "Looks like someone else has been here recently," he said. "I wonder if it would let both of us in, or if it would only alone one of us at a time," he pondered.
"Wanna try it?" he asked with a bounce of his brows, another squeeze to her hand. He reached forward and opened the door, pushing it open, but he didn't enter. It looked just like the other bathrooms, only half the size. There were only about five showers and one small bathing pool in the middle of the room. The other bathroom stuff, like toilets and such, must be on the wall across from the showers.

That it looked like the regular bathrooms was no surprise, really. At least it appeared to have been tidied up, unlike the hallway outside. "Well, there's only one way to find out," Becca waggled her brow, too. She was still skeptical that it was for boys and girls, and more skeptical still of both genders being allowed in at the same time if it was. She turned around and walked backward through the open door, keeping her hold on his hand. "Oh, wow, urinals," she said, turning her attention away from Gabe before finding out if he could enter or not.

He watched as Becca backed up into the room, still holding her hand he stepped forward and passed through the threshold with little trouble. It felt like he was walking through a bubble as if the magic here wasn't complete. He bet that the magic of the room either was old and falling away or hadn't been reinstated, since whoever came here.
"I bet that is only going to be temporary," he said as he looked around at the room as a whole. "It would be pretty sick to have my own bathroom, especially if you could be in it with me."

"Yeah," she sighed, "Having a bathroom all to myself would be pretty sweet. I'd feel like a jerk, though. It really wouldn't be fair to everyone else that has to share. I mean, why should I get special treatment?"
Nobody likes sharing a bathroom, but it was just part of the deal at school. Even if it turned out that the charms on this bathroom weren't restored, Becca couldn't in good conscience come back here to take a shower or pee, knowing everyone else didn't have the opportunity. Especially when there were people that actually struggled with that sort of thing.
"Well, this might be our only chance to... do whatever... in here," her brows lifted. Becca still wasn't sure how long they had before curfew, having lost her watch somewhere. The last place she remembered having it was out in the greenhouses. Maybe a plant had eaten it. Who knew? In any case, even if they were out past curfew, they had a pretty good excuse, having honestly gotten lost in an abandoned part of the castle.

"As much as I would love to take a bath with you, it's almost curfew so we should probably retrace our steps," he said sadly. "But now that we know it's here, maybe we can come back tomorrow when nobodies around," he suggested.
He took one last look around before going back out of the door and waiting for Becca in the hallway. He faced the way they came, judging by the footprints that led this way.

"Oh," she said, trying not to look hurt. "Okay."
Knowing her luck, the protections would be in place by the morning. Or, more likely, they'd be completed only moments before they arrive after their trip to Whimsic Alley. Becca hesitated before walking back out into the hall. She couldn't help but feel like he was avoiding intimacy because of what happened the previous night. Even though he said it was because of curfew, that clawed at her brain like a starving animal. Sticking her hands in her pockets, she started heading in the direction from whence they came.
