Lucco commandeered his usual spot in the quad from a group of 7th graders, unable to not enjoy being one of the older kids at the school with the ability to do that. He had a fair share of memories of older students doing much the same when he was in his first few years and it was only fair to pass on the abuse to the next generation. At least he had been a lot nicer than some of his elders had been to him. That had to count for something.
He dropped down, this time taking the space where he could lean against the couch - at least for as long as it took to set everything up. Fortunately, there wasn't much to do tonight. Twister, which had been on the circulation for some reason beyond him, was on tonight's schedule. It only involved a mat and the spinner. Lucco had suspicions that the happy couple had slipped it into the rotation so they could get all feely with each other but he would never, in a million years, express that opinion aloud. He would just hope that things didn't get too weird. It had already been another long week and Lucco had been looking forward to this one night of rest and relaxation before he had to return to his regularly scheduled program. Not to mention, he should probably get some of his homework done to keep a few of the teachers from reporting him to the headmaster.
It was true, Lucco had let himself get pulled in a different direction - away from the real reason he was even here. However, things had been piling up unexpectedly and he didn't want to let anyone down. Of course, if the headmaster shut down his wood shop, he would be in a lot worse shape so he was going to have to figure out a balance somehow. But that was for future Lucco to worry about. For now, he could focus on a night with friends.
He spread out the mat and grabbed the spinner, making sure they had a bit of room for when they, inevitably fell. Didn't want anyone to hit a table or chair when they went down. Better to be on the safe side. The last thing any of them wanted was for a trip to the Infirmary to cut the fun short and if Shelby joined them again, bringing their party up to four, that would be much more likely.
Finally, he settled back against the couch, waiting for the usual suspects to finally arrive.

Becca was surprised to see the Twister mat spread out on the floor when she arrived with Gabe. She had indeed added it to the list, but mostly as a joke. Surely she wasn't the only one to see the humor in the idea of teenage boys getting tangled up with teenage girls. Or in Shelby's case, she supposed, girls tangled with girls. Except she was the only other girl. She resisted the urge to facepalm, but couldn't stop the amused smirk that stretched across her maw.
Had she ever told any of them that she was double jointed? Becca could cross her ankles behind her head. She could also bend just as easily in the opposite direction and rest her ankles on her shoulders. If one paid close enough attention, they would notice that when Becca sat with her legs crossed, she crossed them once at the knees and again at the ankles. On her feet and relaxed, her knees bent a bit backwards. This game was in the bag for her. Maybe she'd play it cool for a round or two, pretending she couldn't quite contort her body enough.
"Heya, Lucco," she said, standing beside him and looking down.

Shelby had her hand tucked into Enzo's elbow, steering him to where her friends sat. "I promise it will be fun. You need more fun in your life," she said. "It can't all be about quadpot." She rolled her eyes and smiled as they drew closer to the group. She was the last to arrive it would seem.
"I brought a friend, I hope that's ok?" she asked, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, wondering if she should have asked the others first. She looked from Gabriel who sat on one side of Becca, who was standing, to Lucco who sat on the other side of her. "I don't even know what we're playing tonight," she said with a nervous chuckle having not noticed the mat on the floor yet.

Enzo wasn't sure about this. He didn't do well in group situations, except where quodpot was concerned. Even then, he was a little bit of a ball hog, if he had to admit it. "It's not all about quodpot," he feigned offense, then grinned cheekily. "I like hockey, too."
When they finally joined the others, he put on what he hoped was a natural smile that didn't give away how self-conscious he felt. Were they going to make fun of him if he wasn't good at whatever board game they were playing? Would they rag on him if he lost? He let his arm fall, releasing Shelby's in the process, while giving a little wave with his free hand. "Hey, guys," he said to his classmates and Becca, not meaning 'guys' in a gender-specific way. Maybe he should have used a different word. Mixed company was difficult to navigate, especially when so many people got offended over the stupidest things.
His eyes shifted to the mat with rows of large colored dots. Twister? They were playing Twister? Well, this was going to be hell. Enzo swallowed hard, glancing sidelong at Shelby. Maybe they'd just let him spin the spinner. Fat chance, said his inner voice. Enzo was certainly very glad that Shelby had told him he'd never have to attend game night ever again if this one wasn't up his alley.

Lucco greeted them all as they entered, eying Becca suspiciously to see if there were any tells. Unfortunately, none showed...yet. When Shelby came in, he was surprised but not quite as much as when he realized that she was dragging Enzo Fortier with her. Were they dating? No, she had revealed the last time that she wasn't into guys. But then, why? Were they good friends? He tried to look back at all their classes to see if the two were a little closer lately. Unfortunately, that wasn't the kind of thing that Lucco normally paid attention to so, in the end, he was clueless.
"Well, apparently Twister is up for this evening's activities," he announced, once everyone was settled. "For those of you who've never played, the idea is for someone to spin this," Lucco held up the board so they could see the colors correlating with the four different parts involved in the game. "We spin one at a time so..." Better just to demonstrate. He flicked the spinner, letting them all see the answer. "Okay, so Becca - left hand red. And then we spin for Gabriel and the game goes on like that until someone makes us fall.
"I will graciously volunteer to spin for the four of you. We can take turns before the next round if you like." Yeah, there was no way he wanted to get tangled up with two guys. Let Becca enjoy that...and Shelby with...Nope, not thinking like that. Just letting it go because that was where things got complicated.

Becca greeted Enzo with a wave in return, then turned her attention to Lucco as he explained the game to the uninformed. She wasn't sure if the spin was official or just a demonstration, but she crouched down and put her left hand on a red dot, anyway. Easy peasy.
"You know, Lucco, we could just charm the spinner to spin itself and we could all play together," she grinned wryly, looking back over her shoulder.

"Yeah, what are you scared of Lucco?" he said with a bounce of his eyebrows. He pulled out his wand and tapped it to the spinner. It spun around and around on its own until it landed on Left Hand Green. Gabriel wasn't stupid, the game seemed pretty easy as he bent over and put his left hand on a green dot. He looked up at Shelby, whose turn was next.
"Your turn Shelby," he said as he put his wand away and awaited the next player to join in on the mat.

The spinner spun itself again, Left Hand Yellow. Shelby climbed onto the mat and put her left hand on a yellow dot, looking up at the other two already on the mat. She wondered how flexible everyone was because this could turn into a shitshow real quickly if they weren't careful. Actually, it probably would anyway, but as long as they all had fun, that's all Shelby cared about. "So many hands," she said, indicating the mat and Becca and Gabriel.

Enzo had only played Twister a few times in his life, but he knew it well enough. He was more accustomed to everyone playing at once, rather than taking turns, but this was probably more interesting in its own way. He rubbed his hands together nervously as he watched the spinner spin. Expecting it to be left hand blue, he was honestly surprised when it landed on left foot yellow. Combo breaker. He slipped his shoes off, wondering why no one else had. Perhaps it was because they hadn't thought about it, what with all the left hands. Him and his socked feet walked onto the mat, putting his left foot on the yellow dot next to the one where Shelby had her hand. Looking down at her, he smiled warmly. Being social wasn't his thing, but he'd genuinely try to enjoy himself for her.

His reprieve lost, Lucco slipped off his shoes, grateful that he had worn clean socks that were right side out today. It was difficult enough without having to worry about taking one of his hands off of a color. Everyone made their first move, leaving him the last. He watched the spinner, holding his breath. No foot, no foot, no foo...
Apparently, it just wasn't his night. Lucco moved to put his right foot on blue so now there was at least one person on every color. And this was where it could get interesting very quickly. "And that would be to you, Becca."

Becca nodded to Lucco then turned her head to watch the spinner. "Right hand red," she chuckled, putting her other hand on another red dot. Essentially on all fours, now, she looked over at Gabe to watch his next move. Even with all five of them on the mat, now, it surprisingly wasn't crowded - yet. She hoped none of them had personal space issues.

With his hand still on the mat, he toed off his shoes as the spinner had landed on Right Foot Blue, so he moved his foot on the dot near Lucco's. Maybe this would be an awkward game after all. He couldn't wait to see how it turned out, though he suspected that Becca had an ace up her sleeve, as she was so calm about the whole thing. She and her flexibility would probably be on display shortly.

Shelby slipped out of her shoes before slipping her right foot onto a green dot, her left hand still resting on the yellow dot nearby. She spread them out a little on purpose, in case she needed room to maneuver around. She was trying to think of this analytically, strategically. If she failed, she failed. It was just a game after all, and they were meant to be fun. She smiled back up at Enzo as if to say, see this is fun too.

Enzo squatted down, putting his right hand on a separate yellow dot, leaving one empty between it and his left foot. That was just in case he wound up with right foot yellow, so he wouldn't get tied in a knot. He wasn't really considering that someone else might occupy the space, instead. There were still a few other open yellow dots, after all.

Lucco watched the others, wishing that there was something more to this than athletics. It wasn't exactly his strong suit. He looked over Enzo to see his proposed move. Right hand - yellow. At least the two colors were next to each other.
He stooped down, keeping his foot on the blue while placing his hand on the yellow next it. Thankfully, no acrobatic stunts yet.
